Fruit-Filled Sponge Cake

As I was walking through the grocery store, I saw this cake sitting on display. It was neither fancy, presumptuous nor expensive. Sometimes those are the perfect snacks to pick up on a whim.

I am not much of a baker, but I don't know why a cake filled with fruit and cream aren't more common. This was a small piece of cake and I had to divvy it up four ways. Needless to say, it was a hit with the kids.
