Caprese Sandwich

A Caprese sandwich is a sandwich of simplicity. You could say that it is the Italian BMT. Basil, Mozarella & Tomato. All that you NEED are four ingredients:

National Dishes #86 Falafel

Falafels are not a food that I am incredibly familiar with. Usually if I was at a place that served them, they usually opted for another food that they offered such as a gyro. When I was looking for good vegetarian meals, I kept coming across falafels. I had several revelations making this food myself. First,

Grilled Ham & Cheese

When Leigha first started to make this, I thought that it was like a Monte Cristo. That is, of course, until

Okoboji Kentucky Bourbon Burger

If you look at this picture and think to yourself, "That looks really good", then the Okoboji Grill has duped you, too. On their menu, it says "This 100% fresh burger is glazed with our signature Bourbon sauce, topped with Swiss cheese and crispy fried onion strings and served on a toasted bun." Generally, when businesses claim something to be their "signature" anything, you would think that it was one of their best items. Well, let me tell you that Okoboji's signature Bourbon sauce ruined the entire burger. This sauce was

Pig Vicious

My friend, Ragan in front of Pig Vicious

Pig Vicious will never be enjoyed by those that are kosher. Because here, it is all about the pig. They have a relatively small menu, but they focus on keeping it tasting good and bacon-y. We got

Charley's Grilled Subs

Charley's is a place in the food court that is always handing out free samples. Every time that I get one of those samples, I think that it is good and I should go there some time. Then I look at the prices. I think that they are over-priced for what they are. The quality of their food isn't any better than a Subway or Quizno's or any other chain sub shop. What makes them different is that they

Black Bean Burger

This was the first time that we had tried this recipe. It was made of equal parts hamburger and black beans.
The addition of the beans made the burger an odd consistency and it was difficult to tell how well the meat was cooked.

Bagel Sandwich

Bruegger's Bagels was giving away 3 free bagels. This was Leigha's leftover that I converted into a sandwich.

Quinton's

When I was in college, I considered Quinton's to be a decent bar with pretty good food. What I really like was that they didn't just serve the typical bar food of chicken wings and nachos. They were known for their soup bowls and sandwiches. I hadn’t been to Quinton’s in years, but we were armed with two hungry kids, a Groupon and nostalgia. Both of the kids loved the idea of eating the bowl that we ate the soup out of. The four of us split two sandwiches and two soup bowls.

Sam's Steamed Caboose Burgers

While this burger tasted fine, I wasn't a big fan of the steamed method of cooking the burger. To get technical, the meat was a bit mooshy. The bun was over-sized and tasted fresh. I personally prefer big buns, so that was nice.
