The Atlas

For my friend, Corey's birthday, a group of us met up at the Atlas. I have never had a bad meal here; and this meal was no exception. Before coming, I had checked out their menu online and decided to knock something off of my 101 foods list. When I got there, I changed my mind on what to get. Then I saw the special menu and changed my mind again. What I finally ended up getting was

Charley's Grilled Subs

Charley's is a place in the food court that is always handing out free samples. Every time that I get one of those samples, I think that it is good and I should go there some time. Then I look at the prices. I think that they are over-priced for what they are. The quality of their food isn't any better than a Subway or Quizno's or any other chain sub shop. What makes them different is that they

Casa Tequila

February 22nd is National Margarita Day. So we celebrated by going to Casa Tequila, one of two restaurants located in Tiffin. Leigha had gotten an amazing groupon where we received two entrées, two giant margaritas and an appetizer. I was excited because I was going to mark something off my 101 foods list, Mole Poblano. As it turns out, their menu had changed since last time that we were there, and they no longer had that anymore. It appeared as if they had removed a lot more of their authentic Mexican food. But what I did get was still quite good.

Drinks: #12 Bellini

The Bellini is an Italian drink that was introduced by Harry's Bar in Venice, Italy. This was a popular spot for such expatriates as Ernest Hemingway and Orson Welles.

Firefly Pies

Notice the dome in the back that houses the wood oven
Firefly Pies is truly a unique food trailer, as they make all of their pizzas to order in the wood oven in the back of the trailer. While their menu did have the regular pepperoni and sausage options,

Foods To Eat Before You Die: #101 Wasabi Peas

Wasabi Peas are a simple and healthy snack, but they are a misnomer. The peas are dehydrated and crunchy, but they are not actually covered in wasabi.

Chili Dog

A while ago, we started lessening the amount of meat that we eat/cook at home. Meals that I had previously included meat such as spaghetti and chili have become vegetarian. Chili is an amazing meal. It can be a full meal by itself, or used as a heavy sauce for hotdogs or burgers. Plus, it only takes a little while to prepare and you can have it cook all day while you are at work. When you come home, it is ready for you. Leigha made this after I had already left for work. When I cam home, the whole house smelled of delicious smokey, tomato-ey and slightly spicy chili. But this chili was just screaming for some meat.

Love Balls Bus

Love Balls are all made fresh on a converted short bus. What are love balls? Essentially, they are savory filled pancake balls.

Homemade Peanut Brittle

I have never been too fond of peanuts, but I liked this quite a bit. Whenever Leigha makes carmel or brittle, I am always surprised that it has the slightest taste of coconut. I know that she doesn't

Desserts: #65 Pocky

Pocky is a Japanese snack that was created in 1966. It is made of a thing pretzel-like stick that has been dipped in a flavor. The three most common flavors are Chocolate, Strawberry and Almond. So, those are the three that I chose.  Pocky is an onomatopoetic word that is named for the sound that is made when it is bitten.

Homemade Pizza

Leigha made this pizza. It was simply breakfast sausage, sauce from a jar and mozzarella on top of crust from a box.

Peanut Butter and Jelly Quesadilla

I love making quesadillas. They can be sweet or savory and equally delicious. On this day, I was craving a peanut butter and jelly when I realize that we had a bunch of tortillas.

Foods To Eat Before You Die: #27 Chicken Tikka Masala

When I compiled the list of 101 Foods to Eat Before You Die, I didn't even put together the fact that I had just bought a jar of Tikka Masala sauce from the store. The country of origin for Tikka Masala is debatable with both Britain and India laying claim to the dish. What is not questioned is the British love for the dish. Chicken Tikka Masala is the most sold dish in Britain's restaurants.

Black Bean Burger

This was the first time that we had tried this recipe. It was made of equal parts hamburger and black beans.
The addition of the beans made the burger an odd consistency and it was difficult to tell how well the meat was cooked.

Crêpes De Luxe Café

I've eaten here since before Crêpes De Luxe Café was a full-blown restaurant and the owner Hicham Chehouani had a street cart in the Pedestrian Mall. It was just like the crêpes that you get on the street in France.

Brownie Cake

My friend, Kris from work made this. First, she baked an egg less chocolate cake that
caused it to be denser, therefore more brownie-like.

Bruegger's Bagels was giving away 3 free bagels. This was Leigha's leftover that I converted into a sandwich.

Quinton's

When I was in college, I considered Quinton's to be a decent bar with pretty good food. What I really like was that they didn't just serve the typical bar food of chicken wings and nachos. They were known for their soup bowls and sandwiches. I hadn’t been to Quinton’s in years, but we were armed with two hungry kids, a Groupon and nostalgia. Both of the kids loved the idea of eating the bowl that we ate the soup out of. The four of us split two sandwiches and two soup bowls.

I am not a cofee drinker, but I am a sucker for pasteries.

Leigha saw this idea on Pinterest and the kids flipped for it.

Mickey Mouse Pancake

One day, as I was making pancakes, I started to give them shapes. Hearts. Moons. Squares. The Mickey Mouse pancake was what the kids wanted more of.

Pigs In A Blanket with Cheese

The kids came home from school one day, requesting to have pigs in a blanket to eat. And they were quite insistant on having cheese with it, too. As I remember loving these as a kid, I had no problem.

Chili and Corn Muffins

Chili w/ Cheese, Crackers & Sriracha
When I was younger, my dad used to make Chili all the time. There was never a regular recipe; he would just add whatever we had. I personally like to have crackers and some heat, therefore the Sriracha.
